Sims 2 - how to use a university degree for careers?

Hey guys,

i've recently started using sims 2 university.

my sim graduated with an arts degree, now he's moved back into the neighbourhood but i don't know how to get him a job in the arts... all the jobs in the paper seem to be the normal sims 2 games, there doesn't seem to be any new jobs.

how do i go about this?

thanks in advance,

Hmmmm. If you have university there should be four new careers available...Artist, Natural Scientist, Show Business and Paranormal. If your Sim has an Arts degree he should get a job in the Artist, Culinary, or Slacker careers.

If you have spent a couple of days checking jobs in the paper and on the computer and none of the new careers shows up (sometimes it does take a few days for all the careers to be rotated) you might want to consider using a modding tool such as the Insimenator which has a section called the career adjuster which you can use to get your sim his/her job of choice.http://www.insimenator.net/ It's free to download but you must register first. A few notes on the career adjuster option and what it can allow you to do:

鈥?Select Career... - Select any career track, Maxis careers and custom careers.

鈥?Set Level... - Set your sims career to any level.

鈥?Quit job - Have your sim quit their job.

鈥?Retirement (teens/adults/elders) - Have your sim Retire (includes the available benefits).

鈥?Unlock all Awards - Unlock all Career Awards.

鈥?Add or subtract vacation days - Self explanatory.

鈥?Job performance (Set level Positive/Negative) - Set a sims job performance to any desired level.

鈥?Job performance.../Maximum level - maximize a sim's job performance level.

Edit: thanks S2P, I forgot that you can't find the new careers in the paper. You need the computer only. Good 1.Sims 2 - how to use a university degree for careers?
Wollybutt is correct in that there are four new careers that only college graduates can get. But those careers will not show up in the newspaper, you must look for them on the computer. Have you tried that and they are not showing up? If you have then I would just wait and keep trying every day. If you don't have a computer and can't afford to get one then you will either need to use a money cheat (kaching will give you only $1,000 or motherlode will give you $50,000) or just have your sim get any job until you can afford to buy a computer then have him/her start looking for one of the college jobs on the computer everyday before or after work.

You might want to think about turning the aging off until you get your sim in the career that you want and have them work their way up the career ladder a little ways though. I always do that because their life span as an adult is just way to short in my opinion. That's just a suggestion though as it doesn't do anything to fix your problem.Sims 2 - how to use a university degree for careers?
There won't be any new jobs. All the sims 2 university does it make it to where you can start off making more money than before (when sims 2 university was not installed to your system) because you graduated college. Just say, that you start off as a janitor and getting paid $250, then after you graduate college for the picked degree, then you would be making like $700 other than the $250. So, you can work any of the jobs that were mentioned in the art degree and start off making more money then you would have if you had not gone to college. If you sometimes don't use the cheats for the heck of it, then this would be a good idea to make more money to live on. Well, best of luck with your sims.
