A SURE way to make your sims have twins:

make the sim pregnant

then open the cheat window (ctrl+Shift+C)

then enter forcetwins (just like that, no space)

let the pregnancy go on and she should have twins!

Not sure about the sims university working on macs, but the easiest way i find to have twins is to make your sim eats lots of spaghetti (i know it sounds strange but it always seems to work for me)
